Apply for the PPL edit of Manchester print fair and be in with a commission opportunity for They Eat Culture’s Mobile Home project
We’re hosting 5 micro-commissions alongside our Mobile Home project for all who go through the print fair application, for them to undertake a small project alongside a group from each of our 5 communities to come up with a new piece of print which will be developed into a small run, and sold online through the PPL shop & also to be hosted by the Mobile Home project at further Manchester Print Fairs / Preston PPL Print Fairs. This is an opportunity to potentially have a longer term relationship with these communities and to undertake ongoing work with them as part of Mobile Home.
There are many reasons why people may not get a slot at the print fair, for example pricing or number of applicants, and all that go through the print fair application process will be re-contacted & considered for commission if they choose to respond to the specific brief which is to be circulated in the next few days.
The value of each commission is £175 for the workshop & finished print, ongoing 50% from sales (after production costs), plus 3 months community membership for PPL (which has a load of different benefits), plus the potential to engage further in the Mobile Home project as an ongoing commissioned project.
We’re looking for 1 from the student pick, one from the Preston pick, and 2 open commissions, and one which we have commissioned already. The Mobile Home project runs until end of December 2019, and will be releasing a series of work with ambition and attitude from Preston estates.
